Functional electrical stimulation (FES)
Using medically approved devices, the muscles are stimulated with an electrical pulse. This can be used to stimulate the muscles that pull the foot up in walking, or to stimulate muscles in the arm or to decrease muscle tone.
Bioness L300, L300 plus and H200 Bioness has the L300 range for lower limb drop foot and thigh stimulation or the H200 for hand (as shown above). KPHYSIO can provide an independent assessment and then follow on care.
The L300 go is a cuff (with wireless footswitch and optional controller) around the calf to correctly stimulate the muscles to pull the foot up in walking. The plus version includes a cuff to stimulate the muscles at the back or front of the thigh. |
Odstock Medical Limited
Odstock Medical Limited have the PACE and PACE XL for drop foot stimulation of the lower leg. Their stimulator can be on a cuff around the calf or attached to the waist and has a wired or wireless foot switch. KPHYSIO can provide independent assessment and follow up care and also provides the Outreach service for existing Odstock medical Patients (NHS and privately funded).
